Lyrics Explained S1E4: Sadepäivä (Rainy Day) by Mutaveijarit

Today is a rainy day in Lahti. Perfect occasion to share this new children's song I just discovered.

Sadepäivä (Rainy Day) performed by Mutaveijarit was randomly included in my "laulut lapsille" playlist on YouTube. I was mesmerized by the beginning melody. A whimsical world opened up.

Of course I had to search for its lyrics. And I found a nice site that explains not only each line but also the overall meaning. Check it out here.

The song's message is beautiful. "Life doesn't have to be perfect to enjoy. Sometimes simple things, like playing outside in the rain with a friend, can bring us the most happiness."

I'll also hang out with my best friend Linh Lehmä later at Lahti Harbor. There's Suomen Tivoli - a touring carnival. We're all prepared with water-proof clothing and shoes.

"There's no bad weather, only bad clothing", said a Finnish friend of mine. No matter what weather, children in daycare are sent outdoors to play everyday, according to a documentary. How awesome.

I've been in Finland for only 2 weeks but I start to see that this is a wonderland to children; and to the inner child in everyone.

There seem to be more songs composed for children than adults. Plenty of good ones. The composer of Sadepäivä is Saija Santavirta, another talented and young-at-heart composer graduated from Sibelius Academy like Petteri Ohls. Two of his songs have been shared on my blog: Etkö Ymmärrä and Matkalaulu

Enjoy your day, rainy or sunny.
