The default interface language on Google Translate is English. It switches to your Google account's language once you're signed in. If you want to change only this site language and maintain your account's language on other sites, I just discovered the trick!

How to Change Interface Language on Google Translate by Editing URL |
The site URL by default is
https://translate.google.com/?sl=auto&tl=en&op=translate
with "sl" and "tl" meaning source and target language. The source is set to be auto-detected while the target language is set to be English.
To change the interface language, for example to French, simply add "hl=fr&" right behind "?". Your new URL should be
https://translate.google.com/?hl=fr&sl=auto&tl=en&op=translate
with "hl" meaning host language.
To find the code for your preferred language, consult this table.
Or you can guess by their English name. Finnish is "fi". Italian is "it". And Japanese is "ja".
I love changing site language to languages I'm learning so I can immerge more often in them.
Hope this helps whatever your purpose is.
